WORKS
I am fascinated by the correlation between objects, places, memory and the stories they evoke. When an object is transferred from one person to another, the stories associated get handed down along with that object. It then becomes the vessel that allows those stories to continue through generations. Places, particularly homes, soak up the energy of those who have resided there. Stories exist whether we realize them or not. There is a phenomenon that occurs when one is reunited with objects of the past. The textures, smells, and sounds of objects all work together to prompt memories and create stories. Without these objects, some memories might otherwise be forgotten or never realized. Much of my work is created through photographic processes and is often paired with written information about the history and significance of the image. I strive to produce work that creates an interest in one’s own history, and a longing for the things of the past.
